Make matching gifts

Many companies and foundations sponsor matching gift programs for their employees’ philanthropic interests. These companies may be willing to double or even triple the value of charitable gifts made by employees or their spouses. You will be recognized for the full amount of your gift plus any employer match.

*** Please note that many corporate matching gift programs use a third party portal to process their matching gifts. In order to make sure your gift funds are properly routed, please select RUTGERS UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION [EIN/tax id 23-7318742] and you can note in the purpose/description field of the portal the name of the school/unit/fund you are looking to support. ***

Browse our matching gift database or contact your company’s human resources department to find out if it has a matching gift program.

Make a Gift of Personal Property

You may own items of value that can benefit Rutgers and provide tax benefits to you. Rare books, works of art, unique collections and other items of value can all be donated as gifts. The Foundation will accept gifts of personal property for which there is an established ready market value of $5,000 or more. In some cases, an external verification of the item’s value will be required before it can be donated to the Foundation.

Donor-Advised Fund

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is an account set up at a charitable organization or financial institution, known as a sponsoring organization, for the purpose of supporting public charities. Individuals can contribute cash, stocks, or other assets to the DAF and receive an immediate tax deduction. Those funds are invested for tax-free growth and the individual can recommend donations to multiple charities of their choice over time. Donors should contact their DAF provider for rules regarding grant specifications.

Rutgers University Foundation has partnered with DAF Direct to enable you to give directly from your DAF. If your DAF sponsoring organization does not participate in DAF Direct, please have them direct your gift to this address.
